2025 Summit Alliance of Churches
On Saturday, February 22, 2025, our Saint Vincent de Paul (SVdP) Helotes Conference organized the Fifth Annual Summit of The Alliance of Community Churches. This was an ecumenical Summit with attendees from the SVdP Helotes Conference, various church members who support the work of SVdP, and business leaders in our community.
We were honored to partner with Zion Lutheran Church who hosted the event. Attendees from local churches included clergy and staff from Zion Lutheran Church, Helotes Hills United Methodist Church, Rise Church, Bethel Covenant Assembly of God Church, The Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints (ten congregations), and Great Oaks Fellowship Church. Guest speakers included Pastor Kathi Inglis Johnson from Zion Lutheran Church, Pastor Cheryl Broome from Helotes Hills United Methodist Church, Eric Cooper President and CEO from the SA Food Bank, Victor Landa from District 6, Erick Luna from District 7 and Shellie Malik who oversees the SVdP Helotes Food Pantry. The Master of Ceremonies was Catherine McCoy, SVdP Summit Chair and 2nd Vice President and Beverly Rosel, SVdP Member who assisted with the planning of the event.
The purpose was to provide attendees with an update on our combined community impact, to be inspired by the Word of God, and to discuss future plans to serve our neighbors in need. It also provided local leaders and clergy with an opportunity to talk about future programs, services, critical issues, and trends that may impact or benefit our ministry in significant ways. Together, we can harness the power of parish, community and partnerships to serve and feed individuals and families in our community who have nowhere else to turn for help.
The event was a huge success and we are extremely grateful for the participation of everyone who attended! We thank you for your continued support and prayers to assist our neighbors in need.
